Challenge Complete

20 May, 2007

I sodding knew that I would run like shit in my final big push to complete the challenge. Anyways, results and stats…

Day 10

Games played 30 - 6/1/3/20

ITM 33.3% / ROI 6.4%

Entries $990 / Winnings $1,053    Profit = $63

FINAL RESULTS

Games played 101 - 17/14/16/54

ITM 46.5% / ROI 28.8%

Entries $3,333 / Winnings $4,293    Profit = $960

Springers final thoughts… well a good player at the $33’s should be aiming for an roi of about 20-25%, so 28% whilst 6 tabling is pleasing, just a shame that final session ruined what was a good run. Also, it was nice that this challenge coincided with Stars 10billionth hand celebration, so I got a nice $150 bonus on top of my $960, making a total profit of $1,110, plus a ton fpp’s and Goldstar VIP status. I over estimated how much I play too,the challenge was actually completed in only 6 sessions, which I think is quite impressive.

I will probably do this again at some point, probably at the $55’s and with more games/time. To be fair £600 for 6 days part-time work isn’t to be sniffed at. Right now though, I’m gonna catch up on some tv and go get drunk in Slovakia.

Chewing Gravel, the final countdown!

18 May, 2007

Well day 8, I didn’t get to play yet again, which means this has actually turned into a 100 stt’s in 6 days challange! So last night (day 9), I played football and really didn’t want to play poker when I came back, but I still had 40 games to play and I realised that simply wouldn’t be possible in one night 6 tabling, so I squashed in 11 unsatisfactory games.

Results, day 9.

11 Games played - 1/2/3/5

ITM 54.5% / ROI 26.4%

Entries $363 / Winnings $459    Profit =  $96

TOTAL RESULTS SO FAR

Games played 71- 11/13/13/34

ITM 52.1% / ROI 38.3%

Entries $2,343 / Winnings $3,240    Profit = $897

Soooo, tonight is (sing) the final countdown (/sing)! I gotta play 29 games tonight, which is more than I have ever played before in a single session, so please do drop by and offer some moral support if you are around, in order to stop me suffering from a brain haemorage!

Chewing Gravel, Days 5,6,7

15 May, 2007

Off work today as had a really bad migraine most of the morning, however mnaged to fit in a session late this afternoon as it subsided, so back on track after taking day 6 off the challange.

Results, days 5 and 7.

21 games played - 4/3/4/10

ITM 52.4% / ROI 44.2%

Entries $693 / Winnings $999    Profit = $306

TOTAL RESULTS SO FAR

60 games played - 10/11/10/29

ITM 51.7% / ROI 40.5%

Entries $1,980 / Winnings $2,781    Profit = $801

So comments… well I’m running good overall, I was aiming for around 30% roi, maybe lower, so 40% is great, but my 1st/2nd/3rd distribution is poor, which I would assign to 6 tabling, obviously it’s quite difficult playing heads up with 6 tables running at once, but the more I get used to 6 tabling the better that figure will get. I’m also slightly behind schedule, and will not likely be able to play for 1 of he 3 remaining days, so will leave the challange at 100 games.

Btw, I changed the blog design, what do you think? The old one was a little cheesy and I was getting bored of it.

Chewing Gravel, Days 3+4

13 May, 2007

Well day 3 started off with disaster, 7 straight games no cash and me thinking up humourous lines about all the Pokerstars frequent player points I was earning, however I managed to salvage it and turn in a good profit in the end. I’ve also started 6 tabling which I’ve found surprisingly easy. So the results…

Day 3

19 Games played - 3/4/2/10

ITM 47.4% / ROI 33.5%

Entries $627 / Winnings $837   Profit = $210

Day 4

10 Games played - 1/3/1/5

ITM 50% / ROI 30.09%

Entries $330 / Winnings $432    Profit = $102

TOTAL RESULTS SO FAR

39 Games played - 6/8/6/19

ITM 51.3% / ROI 38.5%

Entries $1,287 / Winnings $1,782    Profit = $495

So six days left and 61 games to go, to be honest it really shoudn’t be hard now I’m 6 tabling, so I may up it to 150. Will have a think about how many sessions I’ll be able to fit in during the next 6 days.

Chewing Gravel, Day 1

11 May, 2007

Day 1 results

10 Games played - 1st/2nd/3rd/OOTM = 2/1/3/4

ITM 60%    ROI 52%

Entries $330 / Winnings $513    Profit = $183

Good solid start, can’t really complain but I was disspointed with all the 3rds, my roi could have been much better. I also got a splitting headache from only 3 hours of continuous 4 tabling which is a bit of a poor show. Day 2 has been and gone, italian restaurant with work colleagues so no games played (well actually I came back drunk and played 15mins of 200NL heads up, finishing $63 to the good), so now I’m about to start my day 3 session and am a little behind schedule. Will update in the morning.

I should post more often.

7 May, 2007

I really should! I hate having to write long posts and trying to remember crap I did like 2 weeks ago.

Ok, pokerwise has been a bit weird, have started playing a bit more often, I won another tournament on Full Tilt last week, $30+3 but only a small-ish field so 1st was good for $720, which was nice. This weekend I decided to spend all day Saturday playing and well ermm things didn’t go so well, in fact I had my biggest single day loss on record, which was pretty gross. Basically I was getting cold decked left right and centre and didn’t win a single flip, then I went on monkey tilt and started playing $109’s. Yey, ship the +$1k loss.

Oh well, it’s all relative I guess, and it’s only a small dent on my roll.

As a result of this I’m gonna go back to grinding the STT’s to re-assure myself I can win. In an effort to motivate myself (cos playing a billion stt’s is like chewing gravel) I’m gonna set myself a challange. I’m gonna be 4 tabling the $33’s, and would like to try play say 100 games in the next 10 days? (10 days cos I’m off on a 5 day piss up in Slovakia then). 100 too low? I really don’t get chance to play that often so it will probably require fitting in 15-20 games per session. Yeah ok I like the sound of that, I will update in the blog after every session with all my stats so you can laugh at how bad/good I run.

In other news, I completely ignored my detox, and got completely trolleyed last weekend, v.v.messy. All day drinking in the sun, lots of beautiful girls, then an all night mash up back at my place that finished Sunday lunchtime. My neighbours love me. This weekend was a much more sedate affair, Friday night visited some friends in Hebden Bridge and we went out to a lush Thai restaurant, how very mature. Saturday was… well I already talked about that, it’s now taboo and never to be mentioned again. Sunday (lastnight) was a little more hectic, went to some bank holiday special club night at the Faversham, it was a bit pants, we only went cos my friend was DJing in the backroom, the main room was like an embarrasing white boy version of 8 Mile (It all be Hip Hop and rappers yo!), which is definately not up my street. Needless to say, we got drunk and had a good time anyway.

Sooo, I am now definitely on detox, and am gonna be chewing gravel with the stt’s for the next 10 days, can’t wait!
